Some I/S history students are interested in seeing the King Tut exhibit at the
Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto and have organized a trip that is being
offered to all Faculty of Education students. The cost for the trip is the
group student rate of $15 per person.
The King Tut exhibit contains a wonderful display of artifacts of ancient
Egypt. This exhibit has appeal to anyone who has an interest in ancient
civilizations whether you will be teaching history or not. In addiiton to the
King Tut exhibit, the Art Gallery of Ontario and its large collection of
paintings and other types of artwork can provide a wide range of learning
opportunities for students in the junior, intermediate, and senior levels in
many differenct courses. This trip can provide you with an opportunity to
explore the Art Gallery to discover some of those potential opportunities
while both admiring the gallery’s collection and the highly regarded
renovation that was developed by noted Canadian born architect Frank Gehry.
Since all the regular schools days are taken up with classes and other special
activities and events, the trip has been scheduled for the March Break week on
Tuesday March 16, 2010.
As the trip is taking place during March Break and students will be back home
in various locations, bus transportation is not being provided. Car pooling is
being organized for those students who will be in or near London during March
Break. For those who live closer to Toronto, it is anticipated that
individuals would find their own transportation to the Art Gallery of Ontario.
If you are interested on participating in the trip, please stop by the table
that will be set up outside the Students’ Council office near the cafeteria
over the next week. As payment must be provided 30 days in advance of the
trip, Wednesday February 3, 2010 will be the last day to sign up and provide
payment for the trip. Only cash can be accepted for payment.
